Distribution Channels and Differences
Some apps are offered via several distribution channels - each described separately:
- Direct/Trial - direct download from our website. It’s an identical download as the trial and you unlock the full unlimited version using a license code, otherwise the version is time-limited.
- App Store - the app is purchased via the App Store and all updates are handled via the App Store app.
- Setapp - the app is distributed as part of Setapp subscription. Setapp is a subscription service for Mac and iOS apps. For $9.99/mo, use Downie, Permute, UctoX plus over 200 other apps. No extra fees, no ads.
Differences
There can be minor differences between the app distributed via the App Store and the other channels, mainly due to Apple’s review guidelines and policies. In particular:
- Permute - please see full article listing differences.
- Eon - Eon on the App Store is distributed priced at $19.99 while offering individual services as in-app purchases ($4.99 each). Direct distribution is priced at $29.99, but includes access to all the services with no limitations.
Also note that updates are submitted to all distribution channels at once - but both App Store and Setapp require updates to be reviewed, which can delay the update - in case of Setapp by a few hours, in case of App Store, usually 24 hours, but in some cases longer.
