Smart Folders
Smart Folders collect articles automatically based on rules you define — no matter which feed they come from. They appear in their own sidebar section and show an unread count, just like regular folders.
Creating a Smart Folder
Choose File > New Smart Folder, or use the + button above the sidebar. On iPhone, you can also find New Smart Folder in the sidebar menu. Give the folder a name and, optionally, a custom color.
Rules
A Smart Folder matches articles against a set of conditions. Each condition tests one of the following:
- Title — the article's title contains, doesn't contain, or is a phrase
- Content — the same tests against the article's text and summary
- Feed — the article belongs (or doesn't belong) to selected feeds
- Date — the article was published within the last N days, or is older
- Read — the article is read or unread
Conditions are combined with "All of the following" (every condition must match) or "Any of the following" (at least one must match). Add nested groups to build more complex rules — for example, unread articles from the last week that mention a topic in the title or the content.
Editing and Deleting
Right-click (or long-press) a Smart Folder in the sidebar to edit its rules or delete it. Deleting a Smart Folder never deletes the articles it matches — it only removes the saved rules.
Keeping Articles Around
Smart Folders show whatever currently matches their rules, so their contents change as articles arrive, get read, or are cleaned up. If you want to keep a specific article around for later, open it in a tab — tabs stay until you close them and sync across your devices.
