Names & Metadata
Renaming videos
Edit the name at the top of the inspector — long names wrap across several lines. With "reflect renames to disk" enabled in the library settings, the file on disk is renamed as well.
Fixing names from the source page
Downloaded videos usually remember the page they came from. When a video has such a source, a wand button appears next to the name field: it loads the page, collects possible titles from it — and also offers the address's last part as a name (for example "alzbeta-7212-2", plus a cleaned-up "Alzbeta 7212 2"), which works even when the page can no longer be loaded. Choose an option and click Rename to apply it — the tag and people suggestions refresh to match the new name. Right-click the Source row to copy the link.
Viewing embedded metadata (Mac)
The Metadata section at the bottom of the inspector shows what is stored inside the video file itself — title, artist, comments, dates, and cover art. It loads a moment after you select a video, since reading it involves inspecting the file on disk.
Editing metadata (Mac)
Click Edit in the Metadata section, or right-click a video in the grid and choose Edit Metadata…, to open the metadata editor. Add or change fields, replace the cover image, and save — the changes are written into the file itself, so other apps see them too. Some formats (such as MKV and MP3) are updated by rewriting the file.
