Organizing Your Videos
Vidarium gives you several complementary ways to organize a library. They can be combined freely.
Folders
Folders mirror the structure of your library and are shown alphabetically in the sidebar. Drag a video onto a folder to move it, or drag a folder onto another folder to nest it. With on-disk sync enabled, these changes are reflected on disk. Selecting a folder shows its own files; if you prefer to see everything inside its subfolders as well, enable "Folders include subfolder contents" in Settings ▸ General.
Collections
Collections are hand-picked groups of videos that ignore folder structure — a video can belong to any number of collections. Reorder them in the sidebar by dragging.
Tags & People
Tags and people are labels you apply in the inspector. Use them to mark videos across folders and collections, then filter by them from the sidebar.
Click the plus button in the inspector's Tags or People header to open a searchable picker: type to filter, sort by name or by how often a label is used, and click entries to toggle them on the video — applied ones show tinted. Type a name that doesn't exist yet and add it on the spot. On iPhone the picker is a searchable list with checkmarks instead.
When a file carries authors metadata, the expanded File section lists each author with a plus button that assigns the matching person — creating them first if needed. Vidarium can also suggest tags and people automatically; see Tag & People Suggestions.
If you end up with duplicates — say the same person under two spellings — open Manage Tags or Manage People, click the ••• menu next to the duplicate and choose Merge Into. Every video carrying the duplicate is assigned the chosen tag or person instead, and the duplicate is removed. Entries used by a saved search can’t be merged away until the search stops referencing them.
Selecting multiple videos
Select several videos at once — on the Mac, ⌘-click adds to the selection and ⇧-click extends it across a range. Actions from the toolbar and the context menu then apply to the whole selection: assign tags or people, add to a collection, move to a folder, play, or move to the trash. Per-file actions such as Select Thumbnail hide while more than one video is selected, and the inspector shows a summary instead of details.
Removing videos
To delete a video, select it and choose File ▸ Move Selected File to Trash (⌘⌫). Vidarium asks you to confirm, then moves the file to the system Trash and removes it from the library. Hold Option for a version that skips the confirmation (⌘⌥⌫).
